OUGD602 - HAWRAF - Profit & Loss

Learning Outcomes; 6A2

I was really shocked when I looked at the profit and loss of HAWRAF over a three year period.

Total Income;
2016 - $36,700
2017 - $283,044
2018 - $469,196

I couldn't believe the jump up between their first year and second - they earnt $246,344 more in their second year compared to their first! This shows just how much your business can expand and increase over a short period of time.

Then, from the second year to third year, their income almost doubled! I was really shocked and surprised by this as it seems a massive increase in the space of just a year.

I was also taken aback by just how much they profit they were making. I didn't realise that a studio so small could make so much money!

This was really eye-opening for me.

OUGD602 - HAWRAF - 8 Hour Fridays

Learning Outcomes; 6A2

On the 'Potential Internal Projects' presentation I found on the drive, I came across this particular slide I found really interesting.

I felt this was a really great idea for a productive end of the week! The idea is that they have 8 clients with 8 problems and then they solve them all over an 8 hour period. This is  great way to be productive, especially at the end of the week. To have 8 solved problems by the end of the day means you've got a lot done!

Really like this idea.

OUGD602 - HAWRAF - Rent

Learning Outcomes; 6A2

One thing I found particularly interesting on the HAWRAF drive was the price of the studio rent.

I was really shocked by $1,400 a month - this is a lot more expensive than I expected. I'm not particularly thinking of setting up my own studio, and definitely not anytime soon, but I didn't realise how expensive it could be to rent a studio.

This really put into perspective for me how much it costs to run a business. You would have to bringing a fair bit of money in to be able to comfortably afford the studio rent each month, along with everything else.

WORKSHOP:

-5 min presentation for End of Year Show theme

Our theme was the senses - sight, smell, touch, taste and sound.

My task was to create a mood board based on this for the presentation.

I based my mood board on Willy Wonka's factory as to me, this is the ultimate place to explore the senses.

The idea is that the exhibition would be like entering another world - you would walk through a large, oversize entrance (similar to Stormi World - Kylie Jenner's daughter's party). Inside it would be like walking through a fantasy world. There would be all sorts of different smells, things to see, touch and even taste. The experience would be totally engulfing and you would feel like you have entered a different dimension.

Back Door Beads

Back Door Beads uses a friendly and relaxed sans-serif typeface in a playful style. The phrase 'back door' implies that the craft supplies are cheap and affordable, whilst 'beads' alludes to the kind of products available inside. The blue and purple colour palette creates a lively and cheerful vibe, and the circular beads add a sense of fun and creativity.
